In 2002, due to demands of certain retailers, the Monster XL (as well as the X) were shortened up to fit better on shelves. However, it is still undeniably the Monster XL. It now measures 35" long, and has all the same characteristics of the original MXL, except with stubby nozzles and a squashed reservoir. (Some go as far to even say the 2002 MXL is more powerful)

The 2002 Monster XL
The Monster XL is huge, and I MEAN HUGE. The 2000-01 MonsterXL measures a WHOPPING 39" long (a full 1 meter) and has even earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records as the Worlds "Largest Water Gun". While the size is absolutely cumbersome, the power is just as emmense as the cannon is powered by not one, but two Cylindrical CPS pressure tanks. The Range of the Blaster itself leaves much to be desired, but with Dual Nozzles and a plethora of specialty settings, the Monster XL is an absolute menace and has found a home for many in the department of heavy weaponry and base defence. The Shocking Output of Dual 11.5x Nozzles for 2.5 seconds is enough to end a waterfight in just one shot.

However, as a main weapon in a simple water skirmish, the Monster XL leaves much to be desired. The MXL fully loaded weighs 20lbs, 40+ pumps to pressurize, and the limited range when compared to other popular guns like the CPS 2500 or the 1200, make chases a worst nightmare, especially where up-close and personal is the ideal position for an MXL.

(NOTE: Until a review of a 2002 Monster XL can be found, the Detailed Benchmark and Statistics for the Monster XL will remain as the 2000-01 Models.)
