This was my first
ever Super Soaker and I bought my first one in the early months of the
year 2001. Of course, I had always wanted a water blaster. But I never
seemed to get round to getting one, so in the end, my mom took me into
a store and agreed to buy something for me & my little brother, no
more than £10 (around $13.5). So I choose any-old water blaster:
the XP270. I tested it out, "Way cool!" I said as I pulled the
trigger back for the very first time (remember I didn't know anything
about water wars then). I wanted to have a water fight so I got most of
my friends into water wars which then made my water team, Team Aqua.
Then I wanted to find tips & tactics and also detailed reviews on
soakers. I found www.supersoaker.com - the official site first, but it
didn't really say much about the water weapons, so I searched for others.
After going through some, I was about to give up searching, but then I
saw the iSoaker site on the search engine. Clicked on it, and, hey, my
whole idea of water wars had changed.
Unfortunately, my XP270 broke as my little brother was showing off with
it. I tried fixing it, but it was no good. I bought a few more water blasters
after that.
Then, about a year later (yesterday, 5/16/02, 5th may 2002) I bought another
XP270 and I nearly forgot how cool it was!
Of course, it's a bit to small for a main weapon, but I thought it would
be a great back-up weapon.
Yesterday, I tested it out with my brother who is also going to get the
same one for a main one (he's only 7).
This blaster is so cool. It's light as anything, holds a reasonable amount
of water, and has a nozzle of just the right size! It uses water just
as rapidly as the CPS1000; that's the only downfall and it's such a nice
size. Range is decent, but I don't think range is important for water
blasters, only if you are a sniper.
I recommended it to my scout, (I'm the leader of Team Aqua, my name is
'teamaqua1' on Aquatica) but no, he wants to stick with his Storm 600.
That thing is really tiny!
Pros - Lovely soaker, looks so cool, good range for it's size,
light even when completely filled.
Cons - Low water supply, even with 25 percent more water than the
XP70! To small for medium - large assaults, will be out-gunned easily.
Power - 4.5
Weight - 3
Capacity - 3
Overall - 4

This
is one of my favorite line of blasters. I loved the XPs as I was growing
up (ever since...umm...I was 7 years old) and this is just better than
my other XPs. The XP270 is an awesome assault blaster which can be used
in just about any scrimage...but watch out for CPSs with 10x nozzles...
It has an ok nozzle. I noticed that the nozzle is a big larger than the
XP240's.
The pump handle is comfortable, but it could break (COULD). The XP270
only needs bout 6-8 pumps to be fully loaded, then it looks like you could
just about break the handle trying to pump some more (a pressure gauge
would've been welcome). I customized mine by using a Sharpie permanent
marker fine point marks on the spots that look like they need color.
The XP270 has really good range for an assault rifle: about 8 meters at
45 degrees. I recommend that smaller kids (like me) who don't want a heavy
water blaster, should buy this decent, light-weight, water blaster.

The XP-270 is an
excellent weapon. It is useful as a sidearm in large battles and great
as a main weapon in smaller ones. If you're fighting a high-end CPS-class
or a (Primus, forbid) Monster with this blaster, to put it simply, you're
in deep trouble. This weapon holds 25% more water than its predacessor,
the XP 70. This blaster is versatile and it's gotten me out of more than
a few tight situations. Its range is decent for its size. Against low-
end CPS weapons (ie: CPS1000 or CPS1500), it can hold it's own for a very
short time if you can manuver quickly enough. I highly recommend this
weapon as a heavy Side-arm.
