Description:
The water balloon used to be the water weapon of choice in
the olden-days. The water balloon is water wars equivalent to a hand grenade.
Depending on the size of balloon used, varying amounts of water could be
lobbed long distances (even longer with a sling shot) at someone, soaking
them upon contact. There are four main problems with water balloons: Filling
them requires a good water source (typically a hose or a faucet); Carrying
many is difficult for fear of them rupturing on oneself; Once thrown, there
is no way to redirect the projectile; And if not filled correctly, they
will not break on contact.
When compared to the newer water blasters on the market, the water
balloon no longer gives the edge it used to. Though still able to give
good area saturation coverage upon impact, it tends to leave a mess behind,
is not environmentally friendly and will eventually end up costing more
than a water gun since balloons cannot be reused. They do come in handy
in some battles, but a good water blaster is much more effective these
days.
Pros: Simple to fill and deploy. Gives full
payload yield upon breaking.
Cons: Cannot carry very many on one's person.
Liable to break on oneself as much as on one's enemy. Filling procedure
can be tricky and a direct hit does not necessarily guarantee a soak.
