Description: The 1999 New and improved
version of the original SS 100 is supposedly sturdier than its original
counterpart, yet still feels rather fragile, especially when compared to
the rugged strength of the CPS-line or SC-line.
The amount of water carried by the SS 100 is quite good. Its water
use to capacity ratio is low due to the original sized nozzle, meaning
one can last a long time using this weapon. The separate pressure chamber
(unlike the SS50) also allows one to completely fill the water reservoir.
However, there are many things left to be desired with this weapon.
The pump volume is quite small and requires many pumps just to build up
decent pressure in the firing chamber. The pump itself feels rather fragile
and does not appear like it could take much punishment. The barrel of the
SS 100 is very long but does not appear securely attached. Definitely not
a gun one wants to fall on or drop. The SS 100 also seems to keep firing
a few moments after releasing the trigger, wasting some valuable water.
All-in-all, the SS 100 can only be classified as a light assault
rifle. Though improved in design for 1999, this weapon really only outclasses
the smaller Super Soakers (tm) such as the SS50 and XP 20. This weapon
should be handled with care and used only for back-up or for small water
fights. Other than that, its just nice to have a reminder of days gone
by.
Pros: Light for its size, easy to carry. Rate
of fire-to-water supply ratio quite good and can last a fairly long time
(though water yield is low). This is one of the weapons which helped change
water war forever.
Cons: Fragile, has a tendency to leak, especially
if the O-ring is damaged or loose. Nozzle size is significantly smaller
than the newer weapons and range is more limited. The pumping mechanism
is also somewhat fragile. (Don't force it to hard or it will break.)
