Description: The SS MDS is basically a
SS 60 modified with a swivel-nozzle. The nozzle enables the weapon to shoot
directly forward or at any angle between completely to the left or completely
to the right. This feature is found only on this weapon and allows one
to shoot easily around corners without fear of exposing oneself.
The amount of water carried by the SS MDS is quite good. Its water
use to capacity ratio is low due to the original sized nozzle, meaning
one can last a long time using this weapon. The separate pressure chamber
(unlike the SS50) also allows one to completely fill the water reservoir.
The pump volume is quite small and requires many pumps just to build
up decent pressure in the firing chamber. The pump itself feels rather
fragile and does not appear like it could take much punishment. Since it
is still based on the original lines of Super Soakers(tm), the SS MDS
is a gun one does not want to fall on or drop.
All-in-all, the SS MDS can only be classified as a light assault
rifle. This weapon really only outclasses the smaller Super Soakers (tm)
such as the SS50 and XP 20. This weapon should be handled with care and
used only for back-up, small water fights or for special operations which
require the use of the swivel nozzle. Other than that, its just nice to
have a reminder of days gone by.
Pros: Light for its size, easy to carry. Rate
of fire-to-water supply ratio quite good and can last a fairly long time
(though water yield is low). Swivel nozzle nice for confusing people. This
is one of the weapons which helped change water war forever.
Cons: Seem a little fragile. Nozzle size is
significantly smaller than the newer weapons and range is more limited.
Stream tends to break up at its maximum range. The pumping mechanism is
also somewhat fragile. (Don't force it to hard or it will break.)
