Defence:
Individual
The object of water
warfare is to dispense as much water to soak one's opponents while remaining
as dry as possible. The techniques discussed in this section are intended
for use by an individual to remain as dry during heated water battles.
However, while most of the following ideas are also applicable to group
defence, there are some differences which should be noted. Those differences
will be discussed in more detail in the Group Defence section.
GENERAL TIPS
- when
in the open field, keep moving.
A moving target is much more difficult to hit than one standing
still.
- know
your water level. One cannot attack if one is out of water.
When running low, it is a good idea to look for a filling station
before being caught defenseless.
- look
for cover. One who is not seen is much harder to hit.
- travel
with at least one partner, but not too many. With one partner,
each can cover the other's back. Too many people and one cannot
sneak up on the enemy (plus one may get caught in the crossfire).
- carry
a sidearm (if possible).
Just in case one runs out of ammo and there are still enemies
between one's location and a safe filling station.
- know
the surroundings.
It helps to know the battlefield a bit before engaging the enemy.
If this is not possible, do scouting runs before any serious engagement
with hostile forces.
- firing
at a 45 degree angle. Firing
at a 45-degree angle upwards gives the most distance but not always
the most accuracy (especially if its windy).
